Teacher Bio

About the Instructor

Deb Karpman, Founder of Paper Kaleidoscope, is the instructor for the Kaleidoscope Studio. Deb is a art professor and art teacher who is passionate about expanding access to art education.

Deb received her MFA in 2009 from Umass Amherst, BA from Colgate University, and her Doctorate in Education from UCLA in 2015. Her work has been featured in solo exhibitions at Edreich Architecture, Second Row Studios, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and the University of Montevallo, and two person exhibitions at Beta Pictoris Gallery, Las Vegas Contemporary Art Center, Lawndale Art Center, Arts Place, Essex Art Center, and SCA Contemporary.

Her work has also been included in numerous group shows including Craft Alliance, Manifest Gallery, Site: Brooklyn, UNC Asheville, Beta Pictoris Gallery, Trifecta Gallery (Las Vegas, NV), Johnson Center for the Arts, Massey University, Savannah College of Art and Design, Ferris University, RISD, and many more. Karpman was an artist-in-residence at Stonehouse Residency for Contemporary Art in Miramonte, CA. In 2022-2023, she was an American Council on Education Fellow at Colby College.
